Fire detection solutions for large open spaces

The large open spaces commonly found in sporting stadiums, hotel atriums, shopping centers, churches, museums and large office buildings require a performance based or sophisticated engineering approach to fire protection.

Traditional smoke detection systems are not sensitive enough to detect smoke in such large spaces, unless the fire is already very large. With smoke drifting with air drafts as it rises, addressibility of smoke detectors is of little value in one large space.

Why use a VESDA system?


Smoke stratifies into a mushroom cloud below ceiling level in a large open space. It may not reach smoke detectors installed on the ceiling.	VESDA sampling pipes can be installed vertically. This ensures that smoke is detected as it spreads horizontally.	Easy access for maintenance and testing saves having to bring in access equipment.
