Detectors for difficult environments
Smoke detection is required in many difficult environments such as: - Dusty mines, manufacturing plants and power generation facilities
- Humid areas where steam or vapors are prevalent
- Refrigerated storage facilities, kept at freezing temperatures
- Laboratories and storage areas where corrosive chemicals are stored
- Food manufacturing plants that require regular wash down
A VESDA air sampling smoke detection system uses a sampling pipe network to draw air samples back to a remote detector. The pipe network is simply PVC pipe with holes drilled where sampling points are required. The PVC pipe is immune to the environment. It simply acts as a channel for air from the protected area to travel to a VESDA detector. The detector can be installed away from the difficult environment, allowing it to operate without being affected.
