Smoke detection in air conditioning ducts
In a fire event, ventilation duct systems can convey smoke, hot toxic gases and flames from one area to another. Duct systems may also supply air to the fire, encouraging its growth. The effective control of smoke and air flow, through the use of devices such as dampers and shutters is an essential fire safety issue.
A VESDA smoke detector can be installed in a duct to provide very early warning smoke detection. Having very early warning of a fire means that action can be taken to minimize damage and keep your business running.

The sampling pipe of a VESDA smoke detector can be installed across the width of a duct. If any smoke is carried along by the air flow it will be detected by the VESDA unit and an alarm will be raised.
